CCNY MFA Student in upcoming Venezuelan Bienal!

Hi!

One of CCNY's own Studio Art MFA Students, Andrea Coronil, is going to be in the Bienal Salón Arturo Michelana in Valencia, Venezuela! It opens on the 4th of November!

We are so proud to have Andrea studying at City College with us! Her paintings are (among other things) gorgeous, energetic, spiritual, and emotionally rich. Also she is totally awesome.

This is the Bienal's 66th edition, and it is Venezuela's most recognized Bienal. It has operated for over 112 years, the longest in the nation.

Jury members Pedro Fermin, Tahía Rivero, Alfredo Fermín, Bélgica Rodríguez, Ilich Rodríguez Coronel, and Wladimir Zabaleta chose only 96 works out of the entire nation, and every variety of media.

Below you will find some links and information about the Bienal Salón Arturo Michelana.

Thanks for reading!

And don't forget to check back soon to learn more about our coming Open Studio.

Best,
Katie from the CCNY Studio MFA Team

Go Andrea!!!

A Documentary Video about CCNY MFA Student Shannon McBride

Hi there!

I'm writing to let you know that one of our Studio MFA students, Shannon McBride, is in a new short documentary by fellow CCNY student Bernard Lee.

This documentary is great, you can see Shannon at work in her studio, making sculpture that she showed last month in In Between, at CCNY's Compton-Goethals Gallery.

Here's a link to the video. And below that you will find information about the video as posted on youtube, and Shannon's blog address.

Have a great weekend. Fingers crossed that hurricane doesn't actually head over to nyc!

Take care,
Katie

CCNY MFA Student in Crown Heights Film Festival

Hi!

Katie Simpson Spain here, reporting from Hamilton Heights...

A short stop motion film that I made this last spring (at CCNY, in my studio) is screening at the Crown Heights Film Festival!

November 4th it'll be on the big screen, that's a Sunday!
At 2 pm come to FiveMyles, 558 St. John's Place, Brooklyn (2, 3, 4, 5 to Franklin). It's is part of the festival section for younger people - it's got fabric sculpture/puppets and is not 'adult themed' and that's hella cool with me dude...

Here is a link to the film festival page: http://www.crownheightsfilms.org/festival.html!

And below you will find a still from the film. You can also find it on youtube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wWtMXXrvFM&feature=g-upl... but if you can, please come to the screening. It will be fun!

Thanks for reading the CCNY Studio MFA Blog!

Check back soon for pictures of our recent group show, In Between; a biennial one of us is in; an awesome show up now by one of our very awesome professors; a documentary video of one of us working in the studio; and information about our upcoming Open Studios - which will take place the evenings of November 15th (thurs) and 16th (fri) at the City College of New York!

Go CCNY!!!
