Shannon McBride: MFA Thesis Exhibition
“Is this darkness in you, too?
Have you passed through this night?”
Have You Passed Through This Night? is a sculptural
installation that walks the subtle line between the natural and the
artificial; the playful and the malignant; the real and the imagined.
Bulging protuberances cluster in small heaps on the floor. Human fingers emerge from snail shells, reaching out to explore the room. A patch of hair gives life to unassuming architecture, accentuating an eyelid asleep inside the wall.
The work is rooted in an infatuation with nature, gut reactions to social and environmental issues, and my own personal history, along with an exploration of the absurd or impossible.
Please join me for my MFA Thesis exhibition reception:
Wednesday, April 24, from 5-9pm.
